Expecting an Inspection

No one wants a huge fine for an expired WOF, especially when the cost of a WOF won’t break the bank. So, here’s when you can expect a check-in with us for a WOF:

Option 1:

New Vehicles

If you’re driving a new model, we’ll give it an initial WOF inspection at your first-time registration. Then, we’ll see you at its three-year birthday, and once a year thereafter.

Option 2:

Older Vehicles

If your vehicle kicked into gear before the year 2000, we’ll book you in for a WOF every six months with one of our WOF Penrose inspectors. For those driving or towing vehicles born after the year 2000, we’ll see you once a year to renew its WOF.

We know everyone has different schedules, places to be, people to see, so your WOF Penrose experience is on your terms – you have options:

Option 1:

Stop and Drop

We’ll happily take your vehicle earlier than your booking and hold onto it until you’re ready to pick it up later in the day.

Option 2:

Hang and Sip

Waiting around shouldn’t be without coffee and a comfy seat. So, make yourself at home as you please and we’ll get to work.

Lose the WOF fear

Don’t let repair dread delay you from locking in your WOF. If your vehicle requires any additional repairs to meet NZTA standards – mechanical or electrical – we’ll carry them out in timely manner when you book in with us. And, we can undertake minor repairs and fixes on the day, this includes light bulbs, windscreen wipers, oil fill and tyres.

Convenience is key when you’re booking a WOF inspection and time is of the essence. Our NZTA approved WOF issuing typically takes 45mins – that’s less time spent with us and more time doing what you want to be doing. And, because our location is positioned for ease of accessibility on and off Auckland’s motorway and main routes, we’re a simple drive in and drive out. We’ve got Auckland-wide covered!

Helping you help us

WOF’s are our thing, so we want you to step back and let us do the inspecting. But, if you’re keen to get involved in the process, there are steps you can take before your WOF inspection to help us out. This includes keeping us posted about anything that’s out of sorts:

Lights

Take a check over your vehicle’s lights – brakes, indicators, park, headlights – and be sure to test both high and dipped beams.

Tyres

Check your tyre tread and pressure readings. This ensures you’re not running on bald or flat tyres.

Windscreen Wipers

Check that your windscreen washer is still spraying water onto your screen and that your wipers are in working order i.e. not smudging or patchy.

Oil

Oil is essential to the smooth operations of your vehicle. So, check the dip stick and see where the oil marker is to make sure it’s running with adequate supply.

Seatbelts, Car seats and Boot

Check all your seatbelts are within easy reach and visibility for inspection. And, if you have additional children’s boosters or car seats in your vehicle, ensure these can be safely removed. Don’t forget to clear your boot so we can access your spare wheel for inspection.
